Footwear Retailer Stomps out 'No-Reads' Using AV4000 2.0 and VisionCapture(TM)
The problems related to supplier-applied bar code quality faced by a New York City-based footwear retailer and subsequent need to improve read rates on the parcel stream is covered in this white paper. The challenges which involved devising a solution, including the replacment of the older camera scanners used to read bar code labels and need for a no-reads capturing method is evaluated, and the choice of AV40002.0 camera technology and AccuVision® VisionCapture(TM) system with image depot server (IDS) to resolve the issue is also analyzed. The improvements through use of AV40002.0 and VisionCapture(TM) are listed in terms of number of cases per day, production days/year, average cost of a no-read, and percentage of no-reads before and after the solution, and average annual cost savings with performance improvements. Also detailed are the benefits including improved depth of field, image capture for bar code print quality analysis, and review of no-read images to identify throughput issues and help correct process problems.
