New Industrial-Temperature Radio Enables Wireless Communication in Harsh Environments

- AeroComm's AC3124 transceivers cut the cables to both outdoor and factory applications -

Lenexa, Kansas - November 27, 2001 - AeroComm Inc., the leading innovator of instant wireless solutions, introduces its family of industrial-tenperature 2.4 GHz frequency-hopping spread spectrumn transceivers. The AC3124 line is specifically designed to withstand hostile environments, allowing for year-round outdoor as well as indoor operation at temperatures of -40 to +80 C. AC3124 will replace costly, bulky wiring to applications such as telemetry, SCADA in oil and water management, and process monitoring in environmentally severe facilities.

AC3124 goes much further than offering industrial temperature capability. The modules meet stringent requirements sought after by OEMs such as small size, simple integration, long range, low power consumption and efficient data throughput. Data rates up to 115.2 Kbps provide ample speed for most industrial applications. And because AC3124 transceivers are based on AeroComm's proprietary FHSS technology, they are highly resistant to interference and security breaches.

As the smallest and most power efficient in their industrial category, AC3124s are perfect for integration into both portable devices and stationary applications. OEMs can choose a short-range power-efficient 10mW version for battery-powered products, and a higher-power 200mW version for miles of outdoor range. To
facilitate smooth design integration and provide flexibility for different applications, all AC3124s have identical dimensions, connectors and software interfaces for interchangeability. The transceivers operate in point-to-point or point-to-multipoint client/server architecture.

"Industrial environments are among the most hostile to wireless technology," said Michael Varady, CEO and Cofounder of AeroComm. "To enable wireiess data communication in industrial settings, transceivers must be able to withstand extreme temperature ranges and high levels of interference. Previously, the only radios available for these applications sacrificed performance for durability. AeroComm's AC3124 modules finally allow manufacturers to replace expensive and invasive cabling with reliable, robust RF communication."

AC3124s are complete RF modules with a comprehensive list of approved antennas, enabling rapid integration into higher-volume industrial applications. All frequency hopping, synchronization and RF system data transmission/reception is performed by the transceiver. Use of the 2.4 GHz ISM band ensures acceptance virtually worldwide. AC3124 will be available with a list price of $189 (200mW industrial-rated version) from AeroComm, Avnet Electronics, Future Electronics, and from premier sales representatives worldwide. All modules are backed by RF development tools and engineering support.
