Sterlitech Presents HFFO06 Osmosis Module With an Active Area of 0.6 Square Meters

Press Release Summary:

The HFFO06 Hollow Fiber Forward Osmosis Module is used as an intermediate step between bench-scale flat sheet membranes and larger hollow fiber modules. The unit uses osmotic pressure that eliminates need for pre-treatment and high hydraulic pressures in pressure-driven treatment processes. It is suitable for use in food and beverage, and treating hard and high salinity water. The fiber module keeps the same inner and outer diameter and unique thin-film composite membrane.

Sterlitech Corporation to Offer New Hollow Fiber Forward Osmosis Module

The perfect size for filtration scale-up

KENT, WASH. (PRWEB) OCTOBER 09, 2018 - Sterlitech Corporation is excited to introduce the Aquaporin Inside HFFO06 Hollow Fiber Forward Osmosis (FO) Membrane Module. The membrane module fills the need for an intermediate step between bench-scale flat sheet membranes and larger hollow fiber modules. Investment and development in FO membranes and applications can result in both lower capital and operating costs for filtration systems.

FO membranes utilize osmotic pressure which enables a variety of applications, including the treatment of highly saline feed streams. This eliminates the need for extensive pre-treatment and high hydraulic pressures involved in pressure-driven treatment processes, therefore driving down costs.

“The HFFO06 hollow fiber FO module is ideal for customers who have moved past proof-of-concept studies but would like to perform lab-scale testing with hollow fiber membranes before scaling up production,” said YeWee Siew, Global Product Manager for Aquaporin’s FO product line. “Furthermore, it can be applied to a range of biomedical and analytical concentrations at smaller volumes, fitting in nicely below our larger HFFO2 and HFFO14 modules.”

Compared to the larger HFFO2 membrane module’s active area of 2.3 square meters, the HFFO06 provides an active area of 0.6 square meters; this means lower feed and draw solution volumes are required for operation. The smaller hollow fiber module maintains the same inner and outer diameter, housing material, and unique thin-film composite membrane with integrated aquaporin proteins as its larger counterpart.

This module is recommended for development of applications in food and beverage, and treating hard and high salinity water.
