Edmund Optics Debuts New Cross Roller Translation Stages
June 01, 2003, Barrington, NJ - Edmund Optics, Inc. (EO) of Barrington, New Jersey has announced it has added a line of 1.75" and 2.62" cross roller translation stages to compliment its line of ball bearing translation stages.
Cross roller positioning stages offer exceptional load carrying capability, twice that of similar ball bearing stages. The stages are rated for over 100 million inches of travel at the specified load; approximately 10 times that of comparable ball bearing stages. These cross roller stages provide up to five times the life cycle of comparable ball bearing stages without loss in performance. Applications for these cross roller stages include microscopy, machine vision inspection, alignment, interferometry, wafer inspection, and a variety of vibration-sensitive applications.
These stages are constructed from aluminum and stainless steel, with precision ground mounting surfaces and a black anodized finish. Edmund offers these cross roller stages in center drive and side drive models, with micrometers in either english or metric for ease of use. Stages are offered in one-axis packages, with mounting brackets (sold separately) to allow users to build two- and three-axis models. Stages are available with a maximum travel of either ½" or 1", and are available with either a solid top or a center thru-hole.
Edmund also offers a line of new linear actuators designed to integrate with both their ball-bearing and the above cross roller translation stages with PC-controlled applications. The linear actuators are sold separately and can connect to a computer's RS-232 serial port to allow PC-driven stages.
