I/O Module enables in-chassis analysis of protocol traffic.

Press Release Summary:

Designed for PETracer(TM) PCI Express Protocol Analyzer series, ExpressModule(TM) Interposer helps analyze traffic between ExpressModules and their respective host systems by decreasing probing setup times. PCI Express-based solution inserts into back of server backplane and promotes RAS capability in server systems. It minimizes signal interference by using passive tapping, allowing protocol traffic between ExpressModule and backplane to be analyzed while inside chassis.

LeCroy Introduces New ExpressModule(TM) Interposer for PCI Express® Analysis

Embedded Systems Conference, Boston, Mass, September 18, 2007 - LeCroy Corporation, a leading supplier of oscilloscopes and serial data test solutions, today introduced a new ExpressModule Interposer for the PETracer(TM) PCI Express Protocol Analyzer product line. This new ExpressModule Interposer makes it easier to analyze traffic between ExpressModules and their respective host systems by decreasing probing setup times.

An ExpressModule is a PCI Express-based I/O module that inserts into the back of a server backplane. This new module technology will enable higher RAS capability in new server systems planned in the near future. Debugging the protocol traffic on backplane technologies such as the ExpressModule can be challenging due to tight mechanical tolerances between modules and backplane. The ExpressModule Interposer connects between the backplane of the chassis and the ExpressModule. This new interposer minimizes signal interference by using passive tapping, allowing protocol traffic between ExpressModule and backplane to be analyzed while inside the chassis.

"The server industry is moving to standardized modules and backplanes to satisfy customer RAS requirements," said Marcos Peixoto, Blades Product Line Manager at Sun Microsystems. "PCI Express Protocol Analyzers from LeCroy enable ExpressModule companies to rapidly integrate into Sun Microsystems' new servers with PCI Express backplanes."

"The QLogic ExpressModule is an essential component for mission critical server systems that cannot afford downtime," Pat Kennedy, vice president Engineering at QLogic Corporation. "Leveraging LeCroy PCI Express Protocol Analyzers complements our goals of develop cutting edge storage networking solutions that meet our customer's data center requirements."

"Developers who are working with higher data rates and complex protocols such as PCI Express have a test and debug challenge on their hands when using tight form factor technologies such as the ExpressModule ," said John Wiedemeier, Product Marketing Manager, LeCroy. "The ExpressModule Interposer can now expose hard-to-reach backplane signals and provide protocol traffic decoding and analysis to find performance bottlenecks and protocol errors."

LeCroy protocol analyzers have been at the forefront of PCI Express development tools. All LeCroy protocol analyzers feature a hierarchical display, real-time statistics, protocol traffic summaries, detailed error reports, powerful scripting, and the ability to create user-defined test reports, which allow developers to troubleshoot intricate problems and finish their projects on time.
