New Ceramabond 813A High Temp Adhesive Seals Tundish Nozzles

Valley Cottage, NY - November 5, 2004

SUMMARY
Ceramabond(TM) 813A, a new high temperature ceramic adhesive developed by Aremco Products, Inc., is now used to seal tundish nozzles used in steel foundry applications to 3000 °F (1650 °C).

FEATURES
Ceramabond(TM) 813A is a single part, alumina-silica filled paste that bonds tenaciously to ceramic, refractory and metal substrates. This compound is rated for operating temperatures to 3000 °F (1650 °C) and exhibits exceptional mechanical strength, electrical resistance, and chemical resistance. It provides torque strength of 18.5ft-lbs, a volume resistivity of 109 ohm-cm and dielectric strength of 250 volts/mil. The coefficient of thermal expansion is 4.0 ppm/°F (7.2 ppm/°C).

Ceramabond(TM) 813A is applied easily using a brush, syringe or automatic dispensing equipment. Once applied, curing is accomplished by heating at 200°F for 3 hours or drying at room temperature for 24 hours. Cured product exhibits minimal shrinkage. Residual uncured material can be cleaned up easily with warm water.

In addition to sealing tundish nozzles, Ceramabond(TM) 813A can be used to bond refractory shapes to metal shells and seal other refractory structures from leakage by molten metals. Ceramabond(TM) 813-A can also be used to assemble small electrical components such as igniters, thermocouples, and gas sensors.

Ceramabond(TM) 813A is available from stock in pint, quart, gallon and five-gallon pails. For more information about this new advanced product, please contact Aremco's Technical Sales Department.
