Model 36004 Hand-held Programmer Reads and Writes Location Data for Smart ISOTRON(R) or Other TEDS Smart Sensors



SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO. Calif. - December 26, 2001 - Endevco's Model 36004 hand-held, rechargeable programmer is used to Read and Write limited data fields J pertaining to sensor location for Smart ISOTRON® or other IEPE (Integral Electronic Piezoelectric) type transducers utilizing the IEEE-P1451.4 Transducer Electronic Data Sheet (TEDS) format. The hand-held device allows the user to program TEDS sensor application-specific information in large, multi-channel dynamic test systems.

The small, light weight programmer has five modes of operation: Read TEDS; Edit TEDS; Write TEDS; Convert Units and Fault Check. Read TEDS displays TEDS data. In this mode, the Read/Write data appears on a four-row, alphanumeric LCD readout. TEDS data includes sensor model number, sensitivity (V/m/s2 ) and sensor position. Edit - TEDS is a mode wherein the sensor location is entered via the alphanumeric keypad to the LCD display. Up to eight characters are operator-entered to identify the sensor position or location. Write TEDS programs the sensor location into the sensor's data field. Convert Units converts from mV/g to mV/m/s2 for sensor sensitivity. Fault Check tests for open/short sensor/cable faults which is indicated with the result displayed on the alphanumeric display.

Operation of the programmer is simple. The quick-connect cable is attached to the Smart Sensor, after which the unit is immediately ready to read or write data. The quick- connect cable has a 10-32 connector with fewer mating threads for quick sensor connect/disconnect. The programmer does not have access to over-write all TEDS data fields.

Power is furnished by rechargeable NiCad batteries with automatic shutdown after idle for 10 minutes. Battery life is typically 12 hours. Weight is approximately 16 oz. (454 grams). Dimensions are 7.15" H x 4.10" W x 1.0" D (181.6 mm x 104.4 mm x 25.4 mm).
