Newest Kontron ETX Modules Raise the Performance Bar for Embedded Solutions

ETX-P3T and ETX-P3Tx COMs deliver new high performance-low power consumption solution

POWAY, CA -- July 13, 2005 - Kontron, a leading embedded computer technology company, today announced improved ETX-P3T and ETX-P3Tx Computer-On-Module (COM) designs. These modules now deliver even better performance while maintaining reasonable power consumption levels (<10 Watts).

ETX-P3T Equipped to Handle Harsh Environments

First introduced in Q3 of 2004, the ETX-P3T uses the i815E chipset and powerful Intel® Celeron processors. Reduced CPU voltage and speed-step support ensure the highest performance achievable on ETX at reasonable power consumption. Improved power management is achieved using both ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) and APM 1.2 (Advanced Power Management) allowing for fanless-cooling and extended battery life. The design is robust enough for even the harshest of environmental conditions and offers USB 2.0, a feature not offered by other ETX modules of this performance level, except for the Kontron ETX-P3Tx. Other key features of the Kontron ETX-P3T module include:

· Build around Intel® Celeron® processors, up to 1GHz

· Up to 512MB SDRAM SO-DIMM memory

· Integrated Intel® Graphics Controller

· Up to 32MB of dedicated Graphics memory

· DVO option available

· ISA bus supported

· Support for CRT and LCD/TFT displays up to 1280x1024 resolution

· 10/100 Base-T Ethernet, AC97 Audio Codec and more

ETX-P3Tx Delivers Superior Graphics and I/O Performance

Kontron's ETX-P3Tx COM, also originally introduced in 2004, now boast even better graphics and I/O performance. The new ETX-P3Tx computer on module (COM) uses Intel® Celeron® ULV processors paired with Intel Northbridge (82815 GMCH) and Southbridge (82801DB ICH-4) chipsets to ensure the highest performance achievable on an ETX module at reasonable power consumption. Exceptional performance in graphics and I/O intensive applications is provided by an ATI Mobility Radeon M6 or M7 video controller (M9 option also available upon request) and four USB 2.0 ports. As with the ETX-P3T, improved power management is achieved using both ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) and APM 1.2 (Advanced Power Management). Embedded application developers wishing to integrate sometimes hard to design in flat panels will appreciate the on-board DVI connector. Other key features of the Kontron ETX-P3Tx module include:

· Build around Intel® Celeron® processors, up to 1GHz

· Up to 512MB SDRAM SO-DIMM memory

· Dual-head capabilities - CRT, LVDS, DVI and TV-out up to 1280x1024 resolution

· Up to 32MB of dedicated Graphics memory

· USB 2.0 supported for fast periphery

· 10/100 Base-T Ethernet, AC97 Audio Codec and more

Production ETX-P3T and ETX-P3Tx modules are available now. Kontron offers ETX-P3T and ETX-P3Tx units priced starting at approximately $240 and $340 respectively in small quantities (actual pricing may vary based on volume).
