MALVERN, PENNSYLVANIA - March 19, 2004 - Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced the release of a new Zener diode series in the ultra-small SOD-523 (SC79) plastic package, which features very small dimensions of 1.2 mm by 0.8 mm with a 0.6-mm height profile.
The new BZX584Cxx-02 series Zener diode from Vishay Semiconductors, rated for a voltage range of 2.4 V to 15 V, is designed specifically for space-sensitive voltage-regulation applications in portable communications and computing devices including cellular and cordless phones, Bluetooth products, digital cameras, MP3 players, notebook computers, and PDAs.
These diodes feature a notably high power dissipation value of 200 mW given their extremely compact package size. An innovative die and lead-frame technology provides for a low thermal resistance of just 600 K/W.
Each of the new diodes weighs just 1.5 mg and is available in tape and reel packaging. Samples and production quantities of the new Zener diode series in the SOD-523 package are available now, with lead times of eight to ten weeks for larger orders.
