Press Release Summary:
Using differential inputs, Precision Voltage Sensor Model 1123 does not require common ground and can measure voltages across components or at other points in circuit. Typical error is ±100 mV and max error over sensor range is ±500 mV. Users can program Phidgets software using API that is supported under Windows, Windows CE, Mac OS X, and Linux.
Original Press Release:
New "1123 - Precision Voltage Sensor" is 10 Times more Accurate than the "1117 - Voltage Sensor".
The 1117 - Voltage Sensor is now $15.00 CAD
CALGARY, Alberta - January 7, 2008 - Phidgets Inc. announced that the new Precision Voltage Sensor, which measures voltages from -30 to +30 Volts, delivers results that are 10 times more accurate than the readings from the Voltage Sensor. The typical error is ±100mV and the maximum error over the sensor range is ±500mV.
"A lot of our users have been asking for a voltage sensor with lower noise and increased accuracy, and with this new product we now offer 2 voltage sensors allowing our users to choose the one that meets their requirements." says Chester Fitchett, CEO of Phidgets.
The Precision Voltage Sensor also uses differential Inputs and does not require a common ground. A differential voltage sensor is more flexible than a fixed-point voltage sensor, and has the ability to measure voltages across components or at other points in a circuit. This is the most common kind of voltage sensor and is the type commonly found in most bench-top and hand-help multimeters.
"We have decided to reduce the selling price of the 1117 - Voltage Sensor from $21.00 to $15.00 CAD - a 28% reduction, for all our customers who do not need the added accuracy ." added Bernard Rousseau, Director of Marketing.
o Typical Error: ±100mV
o Maximum Error: ±500mV
o Sensor Range: -30 to +30 Volts
"Unlike a lot of our competitor's products that require their users to write some firmware code in order to use their sensor, we are completely "Plug and Play" says Bernard Rousseau, Director of Marketing. "With Phidgets, you plug it in and start using it and when it comes to programming, the user, not us, decides which operating system and which computer language he wants to use", added Rousseau.
Users can program Phidgets using a simple yet powerful and well documented Application Programming Interface (API) that is supported under Windows (2000, XP, Vista), Windows CE, Mac OS X, and Linux. Users can write programs in Visual Basic, VB.NET, C#, C/C++, Flash/Flex, Java, Labview, and Matlab and Cocoa.
Phidgets also provides programming examples for all its products to help programmers write their own programs. The API Libraries as well as the examples and the documentation are available at no charge on Phidgets.com.
