Vectron International Unveils World's Smallest OCXO for Telecom, Wireless & Data Communications Applications

Seven New Crystal Oscillator Families Offering Superb Phase Noise, Low-Jitter and Individual Frequency Stability Control to be Displayed at electronica 2006

HUDSON, NH., Nov. 8 -- Vectron International, a leader in the design, manufacture and marketing of Frequency Control, Sensor, and Hybrid Product solutions, today announced the world's smallest oven controlled crystal oscillator (OCXO) for telecom, wireless and data communications applications. Vectron's 8mm tall C4530 OCXO series is one of seven new OCXO, temperature controlled crystal oscillator (TCXO) and voltage controlled crystal oscillator (VCXO) product families announced today that provide superb phase noise, low jitter and individual frequency stability controls. The company will showcase these new products in Hall B5, booth 237 at electronica 2006, to be held November 14-17, 2006 in Munich, Germany.

"With more than 35 years of experience in crystal oscillator design and manufacturing, Vectron offers the innovative thinking and technological capabilities required to answer customer demand for smaller, low cost, high performance designs," said Alan Mond, Vice President, Global Sales, Vectron. "With smaller footprints, superior jitter performance and enhanced stability control, these new crystal oscillator offerings provide customers with higher precision and greater performance at a more affordable price point."

OCXOs Offer High Stability Over Wide Temperature Range

Leveraging a new generation of software-based OCXO programming technology, the C4530 OCXO series and Vectron's new C4400 DIP OCXO series provide enhanced frequency stabilization in expanded temperature ranges. The C4530 OCXOs enable the stabilization of frequencies between 15MHz and 52MHz in a temperature range of -40 degrees to 85 degrees Celsius at better than 25ppb, while the C4400 series can stabilize frequencies between 10 and 52MHz in a temperature range of -20 degrees to 75 degrees Celsius at better than 10ppb in a DIP enclosure. Both are designed for 3.3V or 5V operation.

At a height of just 8mm, the SC-Cut C4530 OCXO series is the shortest oven controlled crystal oscillator on the market. Both new OCXO series are optimized for production in a highly-automated factory setting, making them ideal for design in wireless and wireless applications, which typically require high quantities of OCXOs.

TCXOs Designed to Replace OCXOs in Select Wireless Applications

Providing a cost effective alternative to OCXOs in PCS and micro base stations, Vectron today introduced three new families of temperature controlled crystal oscillators. The C2260, C2310 and C2310 High Frequency TCXO series offer customers the flexibility of a lower power oscillator (with average power consumption of 300mA versus 15mA) combined with a stable frequency, enabling more efficient operation and a much faster power-up response. All three TCXO series are designed for 3.3V operation and offer superb phase noise in a low profile.

The new products were developed using a new generation of TCXO ICs, enabling high stability and ultra low phase noise across a broad range of temperatures and frequencies. The C2310 series at 100MHz offers superb phase noise of -75dBc at 10Hz and -150dBc at 100kHz, while Vectron's C2260 TCXOs at 20MHz provide ultra low phase noise of -90dBC at 10Hz and -155dBc at 110kHz. Vectron's C2260 and C2310 TCXO product families can stabilize a range of frequencies, including 26MHz, 13MHz, 12.8MHz and 10MHz, in a temperature range of 0-50 degrees Celsius to better than 0.15ppm.

Combining the new generation of TCXO ICs with superb multipliers technology, Vectron's new C2310 High Frequency TCXO can generate frequencies between 400MHz to 800MHz with overall lifetime stability better than 10ppm at a smaller size (9x14mm). As a result, this C2310 High Frequency TXCO is ideal for use in wireless applications, such as in switching and transmission equipment, which typically require small, high frequency, low phase noise crystal oscillators.

VCXOs Provide Smaller Profile, Higher Frequencies

The C5260 and C5310 series of VCXOs offer smaller size and higher frequencies for use in base stations, test equipment, switching and portable equipment applications. The C5260 series is available at just 5x7mm, compared to the 9x14mm of other models, due to the use of ultra small components and COB technology. While the C5260 VCXO offers frequencies ranging from 10MHz to 170MHz, the new C5310 VCXO series offers frequencies up to 800MHz.

With a separate sealed crystal and discrete oscillator circuit, the C5260 and C5310 VCXOs enable individual tolerances of frequency over temperature, initial, aging, as well as lower and upper limits of the pulling range, while providing tight stability and low phase noise, ranging from -80dBc at 10Hz to -160dBc at 100kHz when operating at 61.44MHz HCMOS, and from -80dBc at 10Hz and 155dBc at 100kHz when operating at 153.6MHz HCMOS. The new C5310 series also offers low phase noise when operating at 400MHz PECL, ranging from -78dBc at 10Hz to -148dBc at 10MHz. Both are available for operation at 3.3V or 5V, with HCMOS LVPECL or LVDS output.
