Edge Guided Unwind Stand Provides Accurate Tension Control via Patented Mechanical System
West Caldwell, NJ, May 12, 2008: CTC International introduces its Model S-800C-DES-EG Edge Guided Constant Tension Unwind Stand.
The unwind stand can handle a variety of materials including tag, label, board, film, paper, foil and other materials used in packaging or converting applications.
The Heavy-duty double end supported design allows rolls as large as 30" diameter X 30" width to easily be accommodated. Rolls are unwound from a removable air shaft supported at both ends by safety locking chucks
The Stand is built with an upper base that rides on a lower base which is fitted with heavy duty rails. An automatic Edge Guiding System controls the sideways motion of the upper stand by a linear actuator and edge of web controller that receives its signal from an edge of web sensor. This steering system allows for edge guiding of stiff materials as well as standard substrates.
The Patented Tension Control system consists of a compensating drum brake and a dancer mounted on a pivoting dancer arm controlled by two air cylinders. A feed-back cable connects the dancer arm to the compensating brake. This unique system provides precise tension control without requiring complicated electronics. Tension is adjustable while the unwind stand is running by adjusting the pressure regulator that controls the dancer arm air cylinders.
The unwind stand will be offered to accommodate a variety of roll and core sizes, line speeds, web tensions and other process requirements. CE compliance and end of roll alert are available options.
