New Twin Lever Gate Reduces Die Change Time By Up to 75%
Tallmadge, OH: Diamond America Corporation, a global manufacturer of extruders, screws and barrels, has recently introduced a new twin lever gate that can reduce die change time by 75% or more.
The new quick opening gate can be fitted on any size extruder and can be used in plastic, rubber and food extrusion applications. Available on new Diamond America extruders, it can also be retrofitted on most brands of existing extruders.
The unit features two clamshell halves mounted on levers, that when opened move the clamshell halves out from under the barrel so that resin being purged out of the barrel doesn't collect in the clamshells. The two clamshells are self-centering when drawn together for a positive seal. Since the two lever arms support the gate halves there is no heavy lifting required by the operator.
Both sides of the gate are electrically heated to minimize start-up time and improve process stability.
The twin lever gate can be fitted with a die support arm when required.
