Original Press Release:

Simplify with Seco-Carboloy's MDT(TM) Toolholding System

New holder style and companion chipbreakers announced

Warren, Mich., December 4, 2002 -- With the use of a single toolholder and insert to perform turning, profiling or grooving operations, the multi-directional turning (MDT(TM)) system from Carboloy simplifies tool handling and reduces inventory cost. And, it has now been expanded to include a new external deep machining holder with four new grades.

The new Seco-Carboloy MDT holder and chipbreakers are designed for deep grooving (up to 1.00 in. deep), and cut-off (up to 2 in. bar stock) operations including side turning. The holder offers excellent surface finish in roughing and finishing applications. And, it has the same rigid and stable contact surface - several times stronger than competitive systems -- as the rest of the MDT family.

The new MC chipbreakers offer very low cutting forces, reducing the risk of vibration, and are available with setting angles of 6° and 15°, eliminating workpiece burrs. The MC chipbreaker comes in four grades - CP600, the toughest PVD grade and ideal for general and high temperature machining; MTCVD-coated TP400, for stainless steel, steel and cast iron applications offering more wear-resistance at higher cutting speeds; PVD-coated CP500 for a wide variety of applications; and CVD-coated TP200, used at higher cutting speeds and designed for steel and cast iron.
