NKK Switches Announces New Smartswitch(TM) Development Kit
New development kit speeds up design cycle, reduces costs
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (August 2, 2004) - NKK Switches, a leader in the design and manufacturing of electromechanical switches, introduces their SMARTSWITCH(TM) development kit, a cost effective tool for rapidly prototyping new design ideas.
The SMARTSWITCH(TM) development kits are designed for engineers to expedite their design process and reduce development costs. NKK offers three different variations of the development kit. The first consists of one SMARTSWITCH(TM) programmable LCD display module and two PCB mounted tact switches for engineers to select and display different graphics (IS-Dev Kit-1). The second comes with two SMARTSWITCHTM LCD programmable pushbutton switches (IS-Dev Kit-2). Both of these kits come on a PC board with flash memory, power and programming connections. The third kit is a panel display unit that includes two SMARTSWITCH(TM) LCD pushbuttons and one SMARTSWITCH(TM) LCD display (IS-Dev Kit-3).
Using the Design Online tools at www.nkksmartswitch.com, engineers can easily program text, draw graphics and experiment with their design concepts. Once completed, these programs can be downloaded into the development kit, which enables engineers to easily test their programs on actual SMARTSWITCH(TM) pushbuttons and displays. Engineers can then present their concepts and product ideas to colleagues and with clients. Development kits can be ordered on-line at the same website to quickly initiate design concepts.
In addition, the development kits offer engineers a renewed flexibility, because the printed circuit board units have sockets for the LCD pushbuttons and displays that allow them to be interchanged for optimal design testing. Engineers can choose between a variety of LED backlighting color, intensity and LCD display combinations with the SMARTSWITCH(TM) series. The board measures 3.04" x 1.18". The power rating is 150mA @ 9 V.
