Hendrickson Combines Advantages of Air Ride and Walking Beam in AR2(TM)

WOODRIDGE, ILL. - Hendrickson's new AR2(TM) converts RT(TM) / RTE(TM) walking-beam truck suspensions to air ride delivering a smoother ride and improved durability while reducing weight. Proven for more than five years in global vocational markets, AR2 brings fleets and owner operators the benefits of air ride to maximize payloads and enhance comfort without losing the advantages of the RT / RTE walking-beam suspension. Converting to an AR2 air-ride, walking-beam system provides the capability to better absorb road shock and vibration and offers high articulation for on- and off-road applications, delivering a superb combination of empty-ride and loaded stability. The conversion kit includes two trailing arms, shock absorbers, transverse torque rods, height control valves, air springs and frame hangers. The existing beam assembly, cross tube, transverse torque rods (if originally required) and longitudinal torque rods remain from the RT / RTE suspension. In addition to the RT / RTE conversion kits, AR2 also comes in complete assembly kits for use in vocational applications including dumps, refuse, mixers and military vehicles with capacity ratings of 40,000 to 46,000 pounds. The heavy-duty trailing arm of the AR2 delivers maximum articulation allowing up to 14 inches of diagonal wheel articulation to keep weight distributed to all drive wheels. Articulation varies with vehicle weight and configuration. AR2 air springs constantly adjust to changing road and load conditions. The smoother air ride helps reduce vibration to the vehicle and other on-board equipment, hardware and electronics for improved service life, fewer repairs and less downtime. The AR2 can be installed at service centers across North America.
