Vantico Intruduces Tough New Araldite® Methacrylate Adhesive

LOS ANGELES, April 25, 2003 - A new, rapid-curing, toughened methacrylate structural adhesive is now available from Vantico A&T US Inc. Packaged in five-gallon pails for use on large bonding and assembly projects, XD 4661-A/B methacrylate is ideal for joining substrates including: engineering thermoplastics, aluminum, thermoset composites and ferrous metals. It is particularly well suited for applications requiring minimal surface preparation.

Gap-filling XD 4661-A/B methacrylate is easy-to-handle with a 1:1 pbv mix ratio and a three-minute work life. It can be handled after eight minutes at room temperature; the full cure cycle is 18 minutes at 77°F (25°C) or five minutes at 104°F (40°C). Once cured, the high-performance adhesive exhibits high shear and peel strengths of 3,625 psi and 62 pli respectively and an elongation of 50-75%. It is also chemical- and water-resistant. The methacrylate is impact-resistant and can be used at temperatures up to 212°F (100°C).
