IBM TotalStorage Storage Switch L10 Lowers Entry Point for IBM eServer xSeries SAN Applications
Overview
The IBM TotalStorage® Storage Switch L10 (option part number
2006L10) is designed to help meet the needs of entry-level applications, first-time SAN users, and application-specific deployments, including the following xSeries® solutions.
o Storage consolidation - Several hosts to one storage system
o Server clustering - Several hosts to a few storage systems for high availability
o Tape library consolidation - Many storage arrays to one shared tape library
o Streaming rich media - Many workstations to one or a few
storage systems
The L10 Storage Switch provides ten ports, with industry-standards-based 1 or 2 Gbps Fibre Channel Arbitrated
Loop operation. The base L10 Storage Switch comes standard in a
½-rack width 1U-high chassis, with four short wave (SW) Small
Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) transceivers, single fixed power
supply, single fixed fan, serial cable, quick install guide, and xSeries rack-mount suitable power cord. The base L10 Storage Switch includes zoning functionality, and interswitch
trunking support between two L10 Storage Switch units.
To fully populate the L10 Storage Switch, additional SW SFP
transceivers are available in an affordable 4-pack SFP, option part number 22R0483, or as a single (one-only) SFP, part number
13N1796. The L10 Storage Switch is designed for xSeries rack-mount deployment, where two L10 Storage Switch units may occupy a 1U rack space when using the L10 Rack Mount Kit, option part number 26K7909. Customers are recommended to purchase the L10
Rack Mount Kit option for each pair of their L10 Storage Switch
installation. For desk-top operation, it is recommended to purchase the appropriate country-specific power cord; refer to the Compatibility section.
