The Clausing/Metosa Model 1560 VS 15" Smart Lathe delivers a new dimension of precision control in standard lathes. The lathe features touch screen electronic controls complete with electronic stops, taper adjustment, high speed threader and tracing to allow an experienced manual lathe operator to interface with a precision control system without having prior computer knowledge. In addition, the controls save the expense and inconvenience of having to use a taper and hydraulic copying
attachment to produce tapers and radii. Plus, all types of threads can be produced without having to select gears. This can result in increased production and precision, and reduced time per work piece produced, compared to other standard lathes.
The Metosa Model 1560 VS has a 15" swing, and comes complete with a variable Constant Surface Speed spindle having three speed ranges. The lathe is supplied with complete guarding and a chip collection tray, coolant equipment and automatic lubrication of bed ways and a GE Fanuc Quickpanel Jr. II Graphic Guidance Control touch screen having large graphic icons that guide the operator through programming cycles and operating menus. Manual operation is made easy with electronic hand wheels for the X and Z axes, and a joystick for rapid feeds.
