Heim Data Systems, Inc. Introduces New Compact, High Capacity Modules

Heim Data Systems, Inc., a leading supplier of data acquisition equipment, is adding compact, high channel capacity modules for the acquisition of video and PCM and avionics bus data to its range of signal interfaces. With up to eight different sensor inputs in one module, the user has access to significantly increased signal capacity. These plug-in modules further enhance Heim Data Systems' highly flexible solution for interfacing high-performance instrumentation and flight test recorders with a wide variety of sensors. They are available for operation in systems producing both Heim DATaRec-3 and IRIG-106 Chapter 10 data format, and provide economical multi-mission operation with future enhancement capabilities.

The new video module can record and replay data from up to four NTSC/PAL/SECAM sources together with four audio channels. The MPEG-2 digitization and compression employs selectable maximum data rates offering the user a wide choice of data bandwidth and picture quality. Each PCM module can record and replay from up to eight data streams with each stream having independent configuration and data rates up to 20 Mbit/s. The MIL-STD-1553 module can record up to eight dual redundant busses. Together with existing interfaces for analog, serial digital, parallel digital and avionics busses, they provide accurate and reliable solutions for acquiring data from evolving sensor sources.

Users can now acquire data from 8 PCM, 4 video and 8 1553 bus sources using a single recorder such as the Heim D5000 Series. Data from all modules are recorded with high-resolution time tagging, significantly enhancing the users' ability to accurately correlate visual and communications events with telemetry and other sensor measurements during missions.

Each interface is contained within a rugged aluminum housing and includes robust connectors and securing screws. All configurations and settings are software programmable through the mainframe's own manual controls or through serial or Ethernet remote interfaces. The available FTrans remote control and data transfer application provides a convenient user interface to the recorders and data.
