Original Press Release:
Rolling Diaphragm Pump From Thomas Provides Pulsation-Free Air Flow
The new Model 1101 miniature compressor from Thomas utilizes an innovative
"rolling diaphragm" design that combines the best features of rotary and diaphragm pumps. Rather than moving up and down, the Model 1101 pump's diaphragm rolls in the cylinder. This increases airflow relative to size and provides an extremely precise flow with limited pulsation, key characteristics of rotary pumps. And, like conventional diaphragm pumps, the Model 1101 is gas-tight and delivers high-end pressure.
Because of its performance, durability, efficiency, oil-less design and compact size, the Model 1101 is suitable for medical, laboratory and industrial applications. A special motor enclosure and built-in resonator limit the pump's noise level to 45 dBA. The pump measures just 2.75 in. (70 mm) long, 1 in. (27 mm) in diameter and weighs 2.6 oz. (75 g).
Maximum flow is rated at 3.2 lpm. The maximum pressure rating is 500 mbar (7.3 psi). The Model 1101 pump is available in both 5.5 and 12 VDC versions and incorporates long-life EPDM (ethylene-propylene rubber) diaphragms and valves.
