New Tripp Lite Medical-Grade Power Retrofit Kit Adds UL 60601-1 Compliance & AC Power to Mobile Carts

Chicago, IL (December 4, 2006)-Tripp Lite, a world-leading manufacturer of power protection equipment, has added a new Medical-Grade Power Retrofit Kit to its existing healthcare product line. The new Power Retrofit Kit provides UL 60601-1 compliance (a required patient shock-prevention measure) for all connected mobile electronic devices. In addition, it provides an economical way to add AC power to non-powered mobile carts.

"Many healthcare managers assume that devices with hospital-grade plugs and outlets are inherently UL 60601-1 compliant," said Jim Folk, Tripp Lite's Executive Vice President. "UL has recently made clear that this is not true, and healthcare managers are now scrambling to ensure compliance, a daunting task considering that the regulation encompasses all electronics that potentially come in contact with patients.
Tripp Lite provides the ideal solution for ensuring compliance. Tripp Lite's existing line of medical-grade UPS Systems, Isolation Transformers and Power Strips provide UL 60601-1 compliance for every device plugged into them. Now, with the introduction of its new Power Retrofit Kit, Tripp Lite provides a UL 60601-1 compliant solution for all mobile electronic devices as well."

The new Power Retrofit Kit includes everything needed to add AC power to medical carts. The kit's power supply features an isolation transformer, which reduces the cumulative shock potential of connected equipment, helping ensure UL 60601-1 compliance. The included battery module provides long-lasting mobile power, up to 12 hours in standard applications. Included PowerAlert Software saves valuable patient data from loss or corruption in the event the cart is left unattended and battery power is depleted. The Power Retrofit Kit also includes a remote user interface (RUI), mounting hardware and standard cabling.

Tripp Lite's Medical-Grade Power Retrofit Kit is fully compatible with most popular carts by AFC, Anthro, Datalux, GCX, Hergo, Humanscale, Jaco, Knurr, Stinger and more.
