ERNI Doubles Current-Carrying Capacity of ERmet Power Modules
New Contact Material Permits up to 18 A
Adelberg, Germany - March 20, 2006 - ERNI has practically doubled the current-carrying capacity of its popular ERmet power modules by adopting a new contact material. The 3pin power modules are now able to handle currents of more than 18 A (at 20 °C) per contact. At the same time, the new power connectors make it possible to reduce warming at comparable amperages. Pre-mating contacts make it possible to implement hot-swap applications.
The right-angle male contacts with press-fit termination are configured for power supply on daughter cards in combination with 2-mm ERmet connectors according to IEC 61076-4-101. Furthermore, the ERmet power modules, which are 12 mm wide, are also compatible with other 2mm and DIN41612 connectors. ERmet power modules comply with the RoHS directives.
About ERmet
The ERmet family of connectors, with a 2.0-mm pitch, and compliant with IEC 61076-4-101, is used primarily in telecommunications, networking and IPCs. These connectors can be used to reliably transfer data at rates up to 1 Gbit per second. ERNI makes the ERmet connectors available with seven rows of contacts (five signal rows and two shield rows) or with 10 rows (eight for signals and two for shielding).
