Liebert FDC(TM) Power Distribution Cabinet

Now Enables Delivery of Higher Voltage Directly to Racks

Columbus, Ohio [January 25, 2008] - As data center managers continue to populate racks with more powerful servers, Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR) and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity(TM), has released a new 480V power distribution model that allows for a more efficient solution.

The compact, rack-sized Liebert FDC remote power distribution cabinet brings power distribution closer to the load, blending physically and cosmetically with rack equipment, while offering the distribution capabilities of a much larger unit. The Liebert FDC gives data center managers the flexibility to adapt to the requirements of new high-density servers that can handle 480V power by distributing the UPS output directly to the servers, saving valuable floor space in crowded data center and increasing the efficiency of the power distribution system.

"When utilizing the Liebert FDC with servers that operate at 480V, data center managers can achieve an additional two percent energy savings by eliminating the step-down losses that are created when 480V power from the UPS is converted to 208V or 120V," said Bill Barcus, product manager, Liebert AC Power, Emerson Network Power. "Additionally, because the units can be placed in the rows with the racks, cables can run directly beneath the racks, shortening cable runs and ensuring they do not impede air flow under the floor in cold aisles."

Liebert FDC units may be placed at various locations within a row of racks as well as in a standalone configuration. The cabinet packages 84 poles (two complete panelboards) in a stand-alone unit with a 19-inch rack-sized footprint. It can be used in conjunction with a Liebert UPS unit to provide 480V power closer to the load. It offers a variety of panelboard options and local and remote power monitoring capabilities.
