Position Sensor comes in captive slide version.

Press Release Summary:

TLM Series magnetostrictive captive slide marker incorporates ball coupling to create physical link with moving part. Technology uses ASIC to provide signal conditioning and linearization for absolute linearity of greater than ±30 pm over stroke lengths from 100-4,500 mm with SSI or DyMoS interface. Sealed to IP 67, series features data output rate of 16 kHz, less than 2 µm resolution, and less than 6 µm repeatability in Start/Stop mode.

New Captive Slide Magnetostrictive Sensors

Southborough, MA...Novotechnik U.S. is introducing a captive slide version of its TLM Series of magnetostrictive position sensors. This version is designed as a replacement upgrade for traditional rodless position sensor applications. Data output rate is 16 kHz.

The TLM series captive slide marker incorporates a ball coupling to create a physical link with a moving part without sacrificing the accuracy inherent in "Novostrictive" measuring technology. This technology uses an ASIC to provide signal conditioning and linearization for absolute linearity of <±30 pm over stroke lengths from 100 to 4500 mm with either its synchronous serial interface (SSI) or Novotechnik's DyMoS interface. In addition to position values, DyMoS transmits accurate transverse velocities without an encoder and data transmission error checking.

In addition to the captive slide and standard configuration with non-contact floating position-markers for wear-free operation, unlimited mechanical life, and unlimited traverse speed, Novotechnik is now offering a floating position-marker with a strong magnetic field for special applications requiring a wider, 9 to 20 mm range, gap without sacrificing performance or reliability.

Key specifications for the TLM series include: Resolution of less than or equal to 2 um and repeatability of less than or equal 6 µm in Start/Stop mode. TLM sensors are sealed to IP 67 and available with SSI, Start/Stop and DyMoS digital outputs as well as 0-10V, 0-20 and 4-20 mA analog outputs.

Sealed to IP 67, the TLM series is designed to withstand shock and vibration up to 100 G/12 G and operating temperatures from -40° to +85°C.
