New Select-Arc Nickel-Bearing Electrode Handles Demanding Applications

Date: March 31, 2008

Fort Loramie, OH - Select-Arc, Inc. has introduced a low alloy, nickel-bearing electrode designed for welding steels which require good v-notch toughness and tensile strength in the 80,000-100,000 psi range.

Select 820-Ni2 is a flux cored wire intended for the welding of carbon and certain low alloy steels. This premium electrode produces a weld deposit with 2.2-2.5% nickel and exhibits outstanding welder appeal. Select 820-Ni2's specially formulated slag constituents provide superb puddle control and its fast freezing characteristics facilitate welding in all positions. It features a smooth spray arc transfer with minimal spatter. The bead profile is smooth, with minimum convexity, and slag removal is easy.

Select 820-Ni2 is an excellent choice for welding steels such as ASTM A572, A575 and A734. The combination of strength and CVN toughness make this electrode ideal for applications that include offshore platform construction, earthmoving and mining machinery and shipbuilding.
