Original Press Release:
64 Audio Issued its First U.S. Patent for apex® In-Ear Monitor Technology
Vancouver, Wash., Oct. 23, 2019 – 64 Audio, the leader in custom and universal fit in-ear monitors, is proud to announce that it has been awarded its first patent. U.S. Patent #10,441,470 has been issued for the company’s apex® (air pressure exchange) technology, which is incorporated into every 64 Audio IEM.
“The team and I at 64 Audio are always looking to bring forth technologies that tangibly benefit our customers, and apex is a perfect example,” explained Vitaliy Belonozhko, 64 Audio founder and chief sound designer. “We are so excited to secure this patent and further position 64 Audio as an industry leader in not only providing a premium audio experience, but also helping protect the hearing of our customers.”
Underscoring 64 Audio’s drive to innovate, apex, or Air Pressure Exchange, is a pneumatically interactive vent that releases air pressure in a sealed ear canal. This venting alleviates listener fatigue and opens the soundstage. Apex comes in two variations, m15 and m20, depending on the model purchased. All of 64 Audio’s current IEMs feature apex technology (tia Trió™, Fourté™, and Fourté Noir models contain an internal version of the apex module to preserve the tia™ acoustic chambers).
Unlike competitor venting solutions, apex preserves the bass frequencies and produces a more open soundstage, which helps the listener distinguish individual instruments. Ultimately, artists are better able to follow their mixes and execute the best performance possible.
The apex module is also engineered with features to prevent vent-clogging and wind noise. Its compact and durable construction is virtually maintenance-free, designed for the most demanding users.
