On Display in Booth #718, New Products Feature Advanced LCD Technologies for Industrial and Non-Consumer Display Markets

SAN FRANCISCO, June 5 / - Society for Information Display (SID) 2006 - NEC Electronics America, Inc., a leading supplier in the Americas of innovative liquid crystal display (LCD) products for industrial applications, today announced that it will showcase its high-quality, high- performance thin-film transistor (TFT) LCD technologies and products at the Society for Information Display (SID) 2006 Symposium, June 4-9, at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco. In the company's booth (#718), NEC Electronics America will feature several LCD modules designed for industrial and non-consumer applications, including transflective displays based on NEC LCD Technologies' proprietary super-transmissive natural light (ST-NLT) technology, high-resolution LCD modules and TFT LCDs for mobile applications.

ST-NLT Technology

ST-NLT is an innovative LCD technology incorporating NEC LCD Technologies' proprietary optical design and using a high-luminance backlight as a light source to minimize the surface reflection of outdoor light. Ranging in size from 5.5 to 15 inches, these transmissive LCD modules produce high-contrast images in a wide range of colors, even in high ambient light environments, making them ideal for use in applications such as automatic teller machines (ATMs), measuring devices and point-of-sale (POS) systems.

The following ST-NLT LCD modules will be on display:

o 6.5-inch VGA: NL6448BC20-20
o 8.4-inch VGA: NL6448BC26-09C
o 8.4-inch SVGA: NL8060BC21-03
o 10.4-inch VGA: NL6448BC33-xx (prototype)
o 12.1-inch SVGA: NL8060BC31-32
o 15-inch XGA: NL10276BC30-xx (prototype)

Industrial LCDs

NEC Electronics America provides LCD modules featuring wide operating temperature ranges, wide viewing angles and fast response times to meet the stringent design and long life cycle requirements of industrial applications. Many of the company's LCD modules are also mechanically compatible with previous generations, enabling customers to easily migrate to the latest LCD technologies in next-generation designs.

The following industrial LCD modules will be on display:

o 9.0-inch WVGA: NL8048BC24-01
o 10.4-inch VGA: NL6448BC33-64
