Tornos Demonstrates MultiDECO 32/6i Multispindle at IMTS 2002

Booth A-8242

(Brookfield, CT - June 2002) Tornos Technologies U. S. Corporation will demonstrate its recently introduced MultiDECO 32/6i multi-spindle automatic machine at IMTS 2002 in booth A-8242. This newest and largest addition to the MultiDECO family is configured for machining parts up to 32mm diameters. It has six spindles, 18 axes, and comes equipped with an integrated bar feeder. Like all MultiDECOs, the 32/6i model combines the advantages of cam-control-control-controll-controlled and CNthrough the usae of TB DECO software and its PNC control.

Tornos' advanced engineering design of the 32/6i has resulted in a dynamic machine with 22 percent more main spindle power (30 hp) and 20 percent more axis motor power (5 hp) than the 26/6 model. It features an epoxy resin base that provides more stability and less thermal distortion. Its curvic coupling for spindle locking provides improved indexing accuracy and up to 32 percent faster indexing time. To meet customer needs, the 32/6i features different spindle combinations, including single-speed, two-speed, and two-speed with stopping. Other options include cross drilling tools and counter spindle for back-end work.

Other productivity enhancements of the 32/6i include presettable tools and the availability of quick change collets, providing faster setup time. An integrated hydrodynamic bar feeder equipped with a bundle loader increases machine uptime and decreases operator intervention. A universal chip conveyer equipped with filter and centralized control works with all types of swarf.
