Los Alamitos, CA (July 20, 2002) -- Flowline's new Model AV16-AV46 series Float-Point Level Switch is the ideal solution for multi-point tank control. Constructed of stainless steel for use with a full range of chemically compatible liquids having a specific gravity of 0.75 or greater, the switch is available in general purpose or explosion-proof configurations. Continuous operation is possible in high process temperatures ranging up to a maximum of 300°F (148°C). Applications include auto fill/empty, high and/or low level alarms, and auto fill/empty with alarm(s). The level switch is fully compatible with Flowline's Remote Relay Controllers (LC40 series).

The rugged enclosure is rated NEMA 4X for general purpose or NEMA 7 for hazardous areas. An explosion-proof model is rated for use in Class 1, Div. 1, Groups B, C and D, Class 2, Groups E, F and G. Unit lengths may be custom ordered from 4" (10 cm) to 72" (1.8 m) depending upon the particular application. Accuracy is 0.25" in water. AV16-AV46 series switches are CE compliant.

The unit incorporates a compact junction box and one to four floats or level switching points, each with a rating of 240 VAC/VDC at 20 VA. The floats have internal magnets and reed switches installed within the shaft. When the level is below the float, it rests on a grip ring so that the magnet does not influence the reed switch. As the float becomes immersed in liquid, it becomes buoyant and the magnet elevates, causing the reed switch to change its state.

Price of the general-purpose AV16-AV46 series float-point level switch starts at $230, or $330 for the explosion-proof model. Delivery is from stock.
