Multi-Ganged Potentiometers measure 0.375 x 0.75 in.

Press Release Summary:

Able to be used in multiple-device assemblies with up to 7 modules, Sfernice P9S and P9A are 9 mm ganged potentiometers that utilize CERMET and conductive plastic resistive elements, respectively. Depending on model, max resistance is rated up to 1 or 2.2 Megohm by linear law and 500 Kohm or 1 Megohm by non-linear law. Shaft styles include 3.5 and 6 mm dia round, slotted, flat, and knurled styles with lengths from 15, 20, 25, and 30 mm.

Original Press Release:

Vishay's New 9-mm Ganged Potentiometers With Ultra-Compact 0.375-in. by 0.75-in. Dimensions Can Be Used in Multiple-Device Assemblies with up to Seven Modules

MALVERN, PENNSYLVANIA - January 19, 2005 - Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) has announced the release of a new 9-mm multi-ganged potentiometer with an ultra-compact module - a miniature 0.375 in. by 0.75 in. [9.52 mm by 11.35 mm] - and availability in variable standard and custom models to enable highly adaptive designs.

The new Vishay Sfernice P9S and P9A potentiometers are intended for use in audio, general industrial, aerospace, and professional applications in end products including mixing desks, cash dispensers, lighting controls, fusion pumps, and volume and speed controls for automotive and consumer audio/video systems.

The P9S is optimized for industrial and military applications with a CERMET resistive element. For professional audio applications, the P9A features a conductive plastic resistive element. Both types can be used in multiple-device assemblies with up to seven modules. An integrated center mechanical detent is optional, and a fully customized design is available upon request.

Resistance ranges for the P9A and P9S, respectively, are 1 KOhm up to 1 MOhm and 47 Ohm to 2.2 MOhm by linear law, and 2.2 KOhm to 500 KOhm and 100 Ohm to 1 MOhm by non-linear law. Standard tolerance for both potentiometers is ±20% with values of ±5% and ±10% available for the P9S on request. The P9A features a temperature coefficient of ±1000 ppm, and the P9S a temperature coefficient of ±150 ppm. Insulation resistance for both devices is 100 MOhm at 250 VDC, and dielectric strength is 300 Vac over one minute.

Available shaft styles for the two devices include 3.5-mm- and 6-mm-diameter options in round, slotted, flat, and knurled styles in lengths of 15 mm, 20 mm, 25 mm, and 30 mm. Specific shafts and designs are also available on request. In addition to very small size and versatile design options, the new potentiometers offer robust design at an economic price point.

Samples of the P9 are available now, with lead times of 10 weeks for production quantities.
