IXYS Introduces Two New MOSFET/IGBT Driver IC Parts
Santa Clara, CA. May 24, 2002. IXYS Corporation, a leader in power semiconductor products, announces the addition of the dual 2 Ampere IXD_402 and the single 9 Ampere IXD_409 MOSFET / IGBT drivers to their IC product family. Both are Low Side drivers and are available with either an inverting (IXDI...) or non-inverting (IXDN...) configurations plus the dual IXDF402 can be operated in the differential mode, also called Inverting+Non-Inverting. Many different package options are available, including industrial standard 8-pin and 16-pin SOIC, 5-pin TO-220, 5-pin TO-263 and 8-pin DIP housings.
The advanced CMOS technology used by IXYS to develop these products results in unmatched performance and lower cost. The ultra-fast switching speed and high current drive capabilities are further enhanced by ultra low matched rise and fall times in the order of 14 ns. A patent-pending circuit virtually eliminates cross conduction in the output stage further enhancing their efficiency and thereby allowing multi-megahertz operation.
The drivers operate over a very wide supply voltage range, from 4.5V to 25V. This 25V rating makes them ideal for driving discrete IGBTs requiring 15V gate bias as well as increasing their reliability and making them immune to power supply transient voltages. Both devices can be driven by either TTL or CMOS input signals. A very low propagation delay time and a very low output impedance make these Drivers optimal for driving fast power MOSFETs and ultra-fast IGBTs.
The new Driver family is targeted for applications in UPS systems, Switch Mode Power Supplies, DC-to-DC converters, Motor Controls, Class D amplifiers, Pulse transformer drivers, Pulse Generators and Line Drivers.
