Three New Dell PowerConnect Switches Offer Customers Enterprise-Class Features, Simplified Management

Las Vegas, Nevada, April 28, 2003
Dell (Nasdaq:DELL) today announced three new PowerConnect(TM) managed network switches that bring enterprise-class features and flexibility to customers at industry-leading prices.

The PowerConnect 5212 Gigabit Ethernet switch and PowerConnect 3348 and 3324 Fast Ethernet switches are ideal for customers who need high-performance connectivity to expand their networks. They also provide sophisticated management functionality to allow businesses to handle increases in network performance and security.

With these new switches, Dell continues to help growing businesses simplify the task of designing, purchasing, installing and managing their networks by offering a complete desktop-to-the-datacenter infrastructure solution with single point of accountability. The PowerConnect switches join a family of products that includes Dell Precision(TM) workstations, PowerEdge(TM) servers, PowerVault(TM) and Dell EMC storage, OptiPlex(TM) desktops, Latitude(TM) notebooks, OpenManage(TM) systems management tools and networking services.

"We are committed to offering customers standards-based enterprise products that meet key networking needs, and can seamlessly interconnect their clients and servers into a local area network fully supported by Dell," said Kim Goodman, vice president and general manager of Dell's networking business. "Our focus is on providing products that have the performance, features and services to help customers manage increasing bandwidth with the best TCO and investment protection."

The PowerConnect 5212
The PowerConnect 5212 is an all-Gigabit 12-port switch ideal for medium- to large-sized organizations requiring high-performance connectivity to centralized resources like servers or high-speed network backbones, or Gigabit connectivity to desktop computers.
The PowerConnect 5212 also offers advanced management and security features including Dynamic VLANs, Multi-Layer Class of Service, SSL/SSH encryption, and support for the Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol, allowing network administrators to simplify the management of their networks. The PowerConnect 5212 is available today in the United States for $1,1991 and in Europe.

The PowerConnect 3348/3324
The PowerConnect 3348 and 3324 switches, starting at $999 and $549 respectively1, offer 48 or 24 ports of Fast Ethernet connectivity and two built-in copper Gigabit Ethernet uplink ports with optional Gigabit Ethernet fiber connectivity. For ease of management, customers can stack the 1U PowerConnect switches using a Gigabit stacking module and then manage up to 192 Fast Ethernet ports as if they were one system. Management options include an intuitive Web-based tool and industry-standard command line interface (CLI).

Similar to the PowerConnect 5212, these new switches include standards-based advanced switching and availability features that allow network administrators to better manage traffic flow in the network. These products will be available in the United States early this summer.

The PowerConnect 5212, 3348 and 3324 join Dell's existing family of managed and unmanaged switches designed to meet the networking needs of small-and medium-sized businesses and branch offices, as well as provide edge-connectivity for large corporations.

All PowerConnect managed switches come standard with three-year next business day Advance Exchange Service2 and 24x7 phone support. For more information on Dell networking systems and services, visit www.dell.com/networking.
