Machining Inserts handle high-temperature alloys and iron.

Press Release Summary:

SpectraTurn(TM) and SpectraMill(TM) milling and turning inserts are PVD-coated with titanium-aluminum nitride or aluminum-titanium nitride. Other products include M750 Milling System for malleable and cast irons; SV209- and VC949-coated carbide grades for turning titanium, titanium-alloys and nickel- and cobalt-based alloys; and APET high-shear, PCVD-coated TPC25 carbide inserts for stainless and high-temperature alloys.

Original Press Release:

Valenite to Feature a Variety of New Milling and Turning Inserts for High Temperature Alloys and Iron at IMTS 2002 Show

New product development continues to be a focus for Valenite in 2002. They will bring to Booth No. 2305 in McCormick East (Lakeside Center Hall) at the IMTS 2002 Show, more than 300 new products for various industry segments, a variety of new cutting tool and toolholding products, including: new high-productivity wiper geometry PVD milling and turning inserts; M750 Milling System for malleable and cast irons; two new coated carbide grades(SV209 and VC949) for turning titanium, titanium alloys and nickel and cobalt based alloys; and APET high shear PCVD coated TPC25 carbide inserts for stainless and high temperature alloys.

One of the featured products is Valenite's new advanced PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coated SpectraTurn(TM) and SpecraMill(TM) inserts for turning and milling. These inserts are PVD coated with TiAlN (Titanium Aluminum Nitride) or AlTiN (Aluminum Titanium Nitride) to provide superior edge integrity and wear properties. For turning, TiAlN coated inserts can run up to 100% faster than uncoated grades and up to 40% faster than PVD TiN coated grades. For milling applications, TiAlN coated inserts can machine up to 50% higher speed than uncoated grades and up to 20% higher feed rates than conventional CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) coated inserts. AlTiN inserts are developed to machine titanium and titanium alloys. AlTiN has a higher aluminum content than the TiAIN coating that results in a coating with higher hardness that increases hot hardness and the oxidational stability of the coating. As a result, this coating is ideal for machining titanium and titanium alloys because it acts as an insulator, translating the high heat to the chip and not to the insert.

In addition, Valenite will be exhibiting MODCO® engineered tooling, including QDT (Quick Delivery Tooling) capabilities; HSK; VM Modular Quick Change and Shrinker® tools, new gaging systems and Walmet Die & Wear products.
