M8 Miniature Proximity Sensors with up to 6 mm Sensing Range on Any Metal: Steel, Iron, Brass, Copper, Aluminum

Minneapolis, Minn. - TURCK has incorporated its Uprox®+ technology into its line of M8 miniature picoprox® sensors to provide compact housings with sensing distances that far exceed ferrite core sensors, especially while sensing non-ferrous metals. The sensors feature stainless steel housing and weld field immunity for use in harsh duty environments, like tool and die, welding and metal forming applications.

"Combining Uprox®+ technology with M8 housing is perfect for many applications," says Tony Udelhoven, TURCK's sensors director. "This small sensor can be mounted in areas where other sensors cannot."

The Uprox®+ technology not only provides extended sensing ranges for all metal types, it also features an integrated predamping protection function to reduce the metal free mounting area in applications. This allows traditionally flush mounted sensors to be recessed by half a turn for increased mechanical protection. Non-flush mounted sensors may be embedded in metal up to the outer edge of the thread on barrel style sensors and on all four sides of rectangular style sensors, causing only a slight reduction in sensing distance.

TURCK's new M8 sensors incorporate 316 stainless steel housings to provide superior strength and corrosion resistance, and are available with extended 2 mm sensing ranges for flush mount versions or 6 mm ranges for non-flush applications. All sensors are 3-wire DC, 10 to 30 VDC, with PNP normally open or closed, or NPN normally open versions. Numerous cable options are also available, including M8 picofast® or M12 eurofast® connections to match any application. All sensors are IP 68, NEMA 6p rated for use in harsh environments.

TURCK is an industry leader providing superior quality sensing, connectivity and network products to help manufacturers improve their automated processes.
