Low-Carbon Electrodes suit heavy industrial applications.

Press Release Summary:

SelectAlloy 309L and SelectAlloy 316L are gas-shielded, flux cored, stainless steel electrodes that feature max carbon content of .04%, minimizing carbide precipitation and promoting weld metal resistance to intergranular corrosion. Both produce finely rippled, even, and well washed bead with either 100% carbon dioxide or Argon + 20-25% CO2 shielding gas. Each electrode operates with smooth arc transfer with minimal spatter and freely peeling slag to minimize cleanup.

Low Carbon, Stainless Steel Electrodes for Heavy Industrial Applications

Fort Loramie, OH - Select-Arc, Inc. has introduced two gas-shielded, flux cored, stainless steel electrodes with low carbon contents to minimize carbide precipitation and to make the weld metal more resistant to intergranular corrosion.

SelectAlloy 309L and SelectAlloy 316L produce a finely rippled, even and well washed bead with either 100% carbon dioxide or Argon + 20-25% carbon dioxide shielding gas. Both offer a maximum carbon content of .04%. Each of these electrodes operates with a smooth arc transfer with minimal spatter and a freely peeling slag to minimize cleanup.

SelectAlloy 309L finds application in the welding of refinery and chemical processing equipment as well as furnace and auto exhaust parts. It is also used to weld type 309 stainless steel, to join carbon and low alloy steels to austenitic steels, to weld 304 clad sheets and for the first layer cladding of carbon steel.

SelectAlloy 316L is designed for welding in the pulp and paper industry, chemical and textile processing equipment, furnace parts and parts exposed to marine environments. This electrode is also utilized to weld type 316 stainless and other similar alloys, such as ASTM A743 and A744, types CF-8M and CF-3M.
