Original Press Release:

Expanded Series of Vishay Tedea-Huntleigh S-Type Load Cells Provides Weighing Capabilities from 50 kg to 5000 kg in Process Applications

MALVERN, PENNSYLVANIA - November 17, 2004 - Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) announces that Vishay Transducers has expanded its 600 series of Vishay Tedea-Huntleigh S-type load cells to include nickel-coated alloy steel and stainless steel variants. Models 615 and 616 are suitable for harsh environments and frequent wash-down, and are sealed to IP66. For even higher resistance to ingress, Models 619 and 620 are rated to IP67 and IP68 respectively.

The 600 series is ideally suited to process applications requiring weighing capabilities from 50 kg up to 5000 kg in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and chemical sectors. It is also suitable for use in retail environments and can be designed into platform scales, weighbridges, hopper weighing, force measurement, and other equipment. Tension measurement capabilities mean the 600 series will also serve applications such as hanging scales and tan suspended weighing. S-type load cells are also frequently used to convert mechanical scales to electronic operation, allowing vendors to enhance existing weighing instruments quickly and easily without incurring the high costs of designing a completely new product.

The 600 series also includes Model 614, which has an aluminum body to address low-cost opportunities designed for less severe applications. Model 614 is OIML-approved to 3000 divisions from 50 to 500kg and is rated to IP65. Its light weight allows product designers to create relatively light and portable weighing instruments.

Models 615 and 616 have 4/6-wire sensing, and are available in several versions to offer 50-kg, 100-kg, 150-kg, 200-kg, 300-kg, 500-kg, 750-kg and 1000-kg full-scale capacity. Model 616 also adds a humidity resistant protective coating and polyurethane shielded cable in addition to its stainless steel construction, enabling continuous operation in harsh environments. Load cell Models 619 and 620 have capacities from 500 kg to 5000 kg. Model 619 is a low-cost solution made from nickel-plated alloy steel to minimize corrosion under harsh conditions, is sealed to IP67, and features 4/6-wire sensing for compensation of resistance change in the cable due to temperature changes. The Model 620 load cell features the highest IP rating, at IP68, and is also certified to OIML (International Organization of Legal Metrology) R60 for devices up to 3000 divisions, and EEx ia IIC T6 and FM for hazardous environments. It measures 100 mm x 120 mm x 45 mm, while the slightly smaller Model 619 load cell measures 90 mm x 120 mm x 32 mm.
