The Festo DFP linear thruster combines the two proven technologies of ball splines and pneumatic cylinders to provide a precision, high torque - compact linear thruster. At the heart of the linear thruster is a ball spline that doubles as the cylinder's piston rod. The ball spline itself is preloaded to provide minimal angular deflection of the tool plate.
The DFP is designed to provide a compact, precise linear thruster solution for those applications that can not use the larger linear thrusters which utilize a tool plate that is guided by two or more guide shafts. DFP linear thrusters are available in cylinder bore diameters of 10, 16, 25, 32, 50 and 80mm.
