Lumex Introduces Jumbo LED Panel Indicator Visible from Distances as Far as 100 Feet
PALATINE, IL--Lumex Inc. is introducing a new series of jumbo LED panel indicators that can be seen from distances as great as 100 feet (over 30 meters). The SSI-LXH20R6 series resembles a standard LED--except its diameter is a very large 0.79 inches (20mm). It's ideal for use in industrial and process control annunciator panels, or in anywhere a bright and highly-visible indicator is needed. In addition, because it's a solid-state device, it provides higher reliability than the incandescent or neon lamp which might typically be used in such applications.
Each SSI-LXH20R6 features an LED with six chips, molded into a single housing with a hemispherical lens. The housing can snap into panels from 0.059 to 0.158 inches (1.5 to 4mm) thick, with a hole diameter of 1.067 inches (27.1mm).
The six internal LED chips are configured in a series-parallel arrangement, and can be driven from any common source of 10.5 to 12 VDC, at a forward current If of 30mA. Power is applied through single pair of leads emanating from the back of the indicator.
Virtually any color of LED chips can be used, including red, green, and blue. For a standard unit with blue LED chips, typical light output level is 120 mcd with an If of 20mA. Viewing angle is a very wide 120°. The high brightness, wide viewing angle, and large size of the device are the reasons for the excellent visibility of this LED indicator.
