Krylon Products Group Reformulates Krylon Industrial Iron Guard

CLEVELAND, Ohio) - Krylon Products Group announces the availability of its reformulated Iron Guard® coating in compliance with the South Coast Air Quality Management District's new VOC regulations of 100 g/L for industrial maintenance coatings, which went into effect on July 1, 2006.

"Krylon Products Group understands the challenges faced by our customers in terms of VOC regulations," said Sharon Sammon, product manager, industrial. "The quick reformulation of Iron Guard is just one of the ways we consistently work to fulfill our customers needs."

Volatile Organic Compound regulations, first enacted in California more than three years ago, were mandated to help reduce the amount of pollutants in the air. VOCs that are released into the air react with oxides of nitrogen and sunlight to form ozone.

Iron Guard is a high-gloss, waterborne, corrosion-resistant coating that enables direct-to-metal application on new or clean metal without the need for primers, thinners and clean-up solvent, further reducing overall emissions.

Designed for new construction or maintenance use over prepared substrates in industrial environments, applications include steel fabricated parts, equipment, machinery, metal buildings, select marine structures, piping, hand rails, tanks and cylinders, and many other industrial surfaces requiring painting. Recommended substrates include steel, iron, aluminum, galvanizing, concrete, masonry and wood.

Additional features include, exceptional resistance to early moisture, chemicals, flash rust/early rust, and corrosion, as well as fast drying and outstanding adhesion properties. Iron Guard is available in 14 package colors and can be custom-tinted. It is also offered in two primers.
