Interface Module can send up to 10 messages simultaneously.

Press Release Summary:

Model ML71 CANbus Interface Module searches for messages from selected devices on CAN bus and stores them as if they were measurement data. It correlates CAN messages simultaneously and unambiguously with measurement data. Each of ML71's two electrically isolated CAN interfaces can be assigned one separate database, making it possible to capture signals from two independent CAN buses with one ML71. Features include fault diagnosis capabilities.

HBM Introduces ML71 CANbus Interface Module

Marlborough, MA - May 15, 2002 - HBM, Inc., a leading global supplier of test and measurement technology, data acquisition systems and software, introduces its new ML71 CANbus Interface Module for use with its MGCplus data acquisition system. The ML71 searches for messages from selected devices on the CAN bus and stores them as if they were measurement data from a conventional transducer. Thus, an MGCplus system with ML71 module(s) can correlate CAN messages simultaneously and unambiguously with measurement data - a very powerful capability.

The ML71 has two electrically isolated CAN interfaces, and a separate database can be assigned to each, making it possible to capture signals from two completely independent CAN buses with a single ML71. For example, in an automobile, engine and vehicle data from the standard CAN bus and information from the comfort bus can be acquired simultaneously.

In addition to its CAN signal capturing and fault diagnosis capabilities, the ML71 can also send messages over the CAN bus. This makes it possible to trigger events such as activating a sensor, or to simulate an event over the CAN bus. Up to 10 messages can be sent at the touch of a button, or at regular intervals.

The ML71 module also provides a very convenient way of assigning parameters on the CAN bus using a CAN database editor. Once you define which signals on the CAN bus you want to have available, you simply click on symbolic names to select them for a particular test without having to worry about the CAN protocol and scaling information. You only need to set up the database once, and from then on it can then be used on any ML71 by anyone in your organization.
