Ethernet Direct Announces Industrial PoE Switches
Taipei, Taiwan, 26 October, 2007 - Ethernet Direct released CUE-411 and CUE-413 Industrial PoE switches that comply with the IEEE 802.3af standard. These hardened switches with 4 10/100TX plus 1-port 100FX product are designed for mission critical PoE applications.
Power over Ethernet (PoE) has been standardized with IEEE standard 802.3af describing Ethernet power-sourcing equipment and powered terminals. This specification describes delivering 48 volts of DC power over unshielded twisted-pair wiring. Nowadays, more and more Industrial applications are starting to benefit from electrical power sent over Ethernet cables. This avoids a separate power cord for things like internet phones and wireless access points. The so-called PoE injects power into an Ethernet cable at the source and receives that power at the destination. Both the injector and receiver are embedded into the device.
