TURCK Introduces the Latest Addition to the Extensive Permaprox Line of Inductive Magnetic Sensors: BIM-INR

Minneapolis, MN-December 17, 2004-TURCK announces the latest addition to its extensive line of permaprox inductive magnetic sensors. The BIM-INR was specifically designed to fit into a miniscule 4 millimeter round-groove on extruded style cylinders. The TURCK BIM-INR is mounted from above instead of by sliding it into the cylinders' groove, creating several advantages over other magnetic cylinder devices. The BIM-INR provides easy installation when the cylinder is located in a tight space or when other equipment prohibits access to the end of the cylinder.

Although there are a variety of different 4 millimeter groove shapes in the field, the BIM-INR is unique in that it can be mounted into any groove style. Included with the sensor is a locking screw that will keep the sensor firmly in place, as well as a cable clip that will prevent the cable from dislodging the sensor. TURCK also offers a variety of clamps that allow the customer to use the BIM-INR in various cylinder applications. The KLR-2 will fit any round cylinder application, while the KLT-1 bracket enables the BIM-INR sensor to fit any "T" groove cylinder application.

The BIM-INR contains Magneto-Resistive technology, which is a solid-state construction with decided advantages over similar Reed switch devices. A Reed switch is made up of mechanical contacts that have a short life expectancy and can cause the actuation point to drift over time. Reed switches also have a slow response time and can become permanently magnetized over time, while the BIM-INR has a quick response time and is immune to effects from magnetic fields.

The BIM-INR is produced using an overmolding process, which allows TURCK to fit all the required circuitry into an extremely small sensor (2.8 millimeters wide by 4.6 millimeters high). TURCK offers the BIM-INR with either an NPN or PNP 3-wire, 10-30 VDC output, and a cable or picofast® pigtail version. This sensor is well suited for exposure to washdown applications, and is exceptionally rugged and resistant to harsh environments.
