Toshiba Introduces New IC Photocouplers for Intelligent Power Module Drives
Feature Low Pulse Width Distortion, High-Speed/High Temperature Operation, Low Power Consumption
IRVINE, Calif., – Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC)*, a committed leader that collaborates with technology companies to create breakthrough designs, today announced the introduction of two new IC photocouplers: the TLP2745 and TLP2748. The new photocouplers are well-suited to applications including Intelligent Power Module (IPM) drives, communication interfaces (such as RS232, RS422 and RS485), industrial applications, and in data transmission between circuits with different voltages.
The new TLP2745 and TLP2748 feature a 120 ns (max) propagation delay time for higher operational efficiency and 40 ns (max) pulse width distortion and 70 ns (max) propagation delay skew. This results in reduced inverter dead time and improved power efficiency. In addition, by having a low threshold input current of 1.6mA (max), Toshiba's new photocouplers make a bufferless direct drive from microcomputers possible, reducing power consumption and possibly reducing costs of equipment systems housing photocouplers.
The TLP2745 is a buffer logic type (high input high output), and the TLP2748 is an inverter logic type (high input low output). Housed in a compact SO6L package, the new photocouplers provide a creepage distance of 8mm and isolation voltage of 5000 Vrms - with a thickness of just 2.3mm, and are designed to support a wide supply voltage range (V(CC)=4.5 to 30 V).
