Remote I/O Terminal Block Compatible With DeviceNet Bus System
Irving, Texas, February 12, 2002 - ABB Entrelec, a supplier of modular and "brick" style remote I/O terminal blocks, introduces its newest brick style remote I/O (RIO) compatible with the DeviceNet bus system. This new unit comprises a terminal block base module plus a plug-in DeviceNet electronic module. ABB Entrelec's existing brick style RIO line includes electronic plug-in modules compatible with Interbus, Profibus-DP, and WorldFip bus systems. Terminal strips on the terminal block base module accommodate 2 or 3 wire field devices, for example, sensors and actuators.
Module expansion provides another option of the RIO system. Each RIO terminal block module includes eight digital inputs and eight digital outputs. Additional I/O may be added with analog and digital expansion module terminal blocks. RIO terminal blocks measure (W x H x D) 4.02" x 4.41" x 3.07" (102 mm x 112 mm x 78 mm).
The plug-in module concept allows the bus system to be changed without rewiring the terminal block base module. For safety, the electronic module is keyed so that only the correct electronic module can be plugged into the terminal block module.
The RIO terminal block base module can be snapped onto a DIN rail or panel mounted. This module is available with either screw clamp or spring connections. An optional fourth terminal strip, for a ground or shield connection, may also be added.
