Description

The IBM p5 I/O sub-system for i5/OS provides the I/O for any i5/OS partitions running on a 1.65 GHz p5 570, 590, or 595 server. It is provided as machine type/model 9411-100 with prices, warranty, and service identical to that provided for the same I/O features of a 9406 model 570, 590, or 595.

The i5/OS I/O for p5 servers uses the same feature numbers used to order I/O for i5 servers. This allows you to consolidate I/O easily from your existing i5 server to your p5 server.

The 9411-100 product structure helps track and collect eligible I/O features from existing AS/400® or IBM iSeries(TM) servers whose workload and I/O is being consolidated into a larger p5 server running i5/OS. It is also used to order additional i5/OS related I/O for an p5 server running i5/OS.

The 9411-100 is used to order the Enterprise Enablement feature for the associated p5 server. A specific 9411-100 is always associated with a specific p5 server and cannot be transferred to a different pSeries® serial number. However, all the contents of one 9411-100, with the exception of the Enterprise Enablement feature, can be transferred to another 9411-100 associated with a different p5 server.
