New Compact I/O Modules from Rockwell Automation Offer Expanded Performance and Ease-of-Use in an Economical Platform

Six modules for analog, digital and ASCII control help users conserve panel space and improve communication with serial-type devices

MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio, Feb. 6, 2006 - System designers and end users who want more performance from their I/O modules while conserving panel space have more options to choose from now that Rockwell Automation has added high-density modules to its AllenBradley Compact I/O product line. The expanded offering provides users increased flexibility, greater communication capabilities and compatibility with CompactLogix and MicroLogix controller systems.

"Understandably, OEMs and end users seek flexible I/O systems that can accommodate a wide range of applications without sacrificing performance or usability," said Jeff Petro, product manager, Rockwell Automation. "With our latest additions, users can choose from an expanded offering of analog, digital and ASCII control modules that best match their specific needs."

All Compact I/O modules feature a unique tongue-and-groove design that locks the modules together. This modularity allows users to build the system they need, nomore or less. This design also means the I/O modules can be installed either on a panel with two mounting screws or on a DIN rail, eliminating the need for a rack and conserving panel space. The Compact I/O modules are available as isolated analog input (1769-IF4I), isolated analog output (1769-OF4CI, 1769-OF4VI), digital input (1769-IQ32T), digital output (1769-OV32T) or Serial ASCII (1769-ASCII).

The analog modules offer 16-bit resolution up to four isolated channels with the following level of isolation: 500V ac or 710V dc for one minute channel-channel and channel-backplane. The performance of the two new isolated analog output modules (1769-OF4VI, 1769-OF4CI) will be very consistent with the performance of the 1769-OF8V and 1769-OF8C.

The new digital modules, including the 1769-IQ32T (input) and 1769-OV32T (output) are 32 point 24V dc modules. They feature a standard, single-slot plastic case developed specifically for users concerned about saving panel-space.

The 1769-ASCII is a two-channel serial-ASCII interface module with the capacity to support ASCII messages of up to 200 characters. This module is ideal for connecting to bar-code scanners, printers and displays or use in RFID applications.

All Compact I/O modules are now available.
