Rockwell Automation Adds Another Cost-Effective Option to AllenBradley ArmorBlock I/O Product Line for More Efficient Use of Plant-Floor Space

New 16-point I/O module features increased point density and configuration flexibility for use in a wide range of control applications

MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, OHIO, July 18, 2005 - OEMs and end users who want a greater density of I/O points in their On-Machine I/O systems now have a new option from Rockwell Automation. The Allen-Bradley ArmorBlock I/O family now includes an IP67-rated, 16-point module that is ideal for machinery applications where embedding control technology, such as signal-conditioning, event detection, alarming and Boolean logic execution are not needed.

The simplified design of the 16-point ArmorBlock I/O module helps control system designers make more efficient use of their available space, shorten installation time, and add flexibility to their systems while reducing total costs.

"Each point on the 16-point ArmorBlock can be an input or output, so users can configure their module for any combination of I/O," said Thomas Trombley, ArmorBlock I/O product manager. "This flexibility and versatility is valuable for a wide range of control applications."

ArmorBlock, a 24V dc I/O block, is part of the wide portfolio of Rockwell Automation products ideally suited for On-Machine solutions. With a sealed housing rated for IP67 and NEMA 4x environments, users are not required to use a protective enclosure, which helps reduce installation costs. The module also features enhanced environmental characteristics and plug-and-play electronic capabilities for faster installation time and simplified control applications. Additionally, because users can connect it directly to sensors and actuators using plug-and-play connectors, the ArmorBlock module helps eliminate major labor costs and prevents wiring errors.

All 16-point ArmorBlock I/O modules are now available for order and shipment.
