IBM eServer BladeCenter Copper Pass-thru Module and Cable -- An Alternative Connection to Gigabit Ethernet Networks and Low-Profile Handles

Overview
The Copper Passthru Module (CuPM) is an unswitched/unblocked
bidirectional copper connection to each blade server. This option provides Ethernet network connectivity for customers who have available ports on external Ethernet switches by delivering an alternative method to connect to Gigabit Ethernet network architectures.

The IBM eserver BladeCenter(TM) Type 8677 chassis supports installation of I/O modules that enable it to communicate with your external resources. The IBM BladeCenter Copper Pass-thru Module, also called an I/O module, provides an unconfigured network connection that enables the blade servers in the BladeCenter unit to connect to an existing Gigabit Ethernet network infrastructure. No configuration of the copper pass-thru module is required.
o Allows multiple blade servers to connect to external resources
o Conforms to mechanical and electrical requirements for BladeCenter
o Transmits and receives network data between blades and Gigabit
Ethernet network environments(does not support 10/100 Ethernet networks)
o Provides self test and diagnostics capability

The IBM BladeCenter Copper Pass-thru Module Cable provides a connection between the copper pass-thru module and an external Gigabit Ethernet environment. This cable allows up to five copper connections to blade servers.
