TECHSPEC(TM) Hot and Cold Mirrors Feature Multi-Layer Dielectric Coating



Barrington, N.J. - Edmund Optics® (EO), the premier provider of optical components, introduces its new TECHSPEC® Hot Mirrors and Cold Mirrors. Both mirrors feature a multi-layer dielectric coating on a precision Borofloat substrate. To further enhance the mirrors' performance, all mirrors offer a high efficiency Anti-Reflective coating on the rear surface, providing less than 1% reflection over the entire transmission range.

Hot Mirrors reflect heat while transmitting visible light

TECHSPEC Hot Mirrors utilize a multi-layer dielectric coating, which is optimized for greater than 95% reflection for the Infrared wavelengths (700-1150 nm) and greater than 90% transmission for visible light (400-690 nm). Edmund Optics' TECHSPEC Hot Mirrors are ideal for use in projection and illumination systems. The multi-layer dielectric coating on the mirrors reflects harmful infrared radiation (heat), while transmitting visible light. When these mirrors are used with high power illumination, forced air cooling is recommended.

Cold Mirrors prevent damage from heat build-up

TECHSPEC Cold Mirrors' multi-layer dielectric coating is optimized for greater than 95% reflection in visible light (400-690 nm) and greater than 90% transmission for Infrared light (700-1150 nm). Cold mirrors are designed for use in any application where heat build-up can cause damage or adverse effects. When Cold Mirrors are used with high power illumination, forced air cooling is recommended.

Available in a wide range of diameters and dimensions

Both EO's TECHSPEC Hot Mirrors and TECHSPEC Cold Mirrors are available round, with diameters of 12.5 mm, 20.0 mm, 25 mm and 50 mm, with either 0 Degree AOI or 45 Degree AOI. Square Hot Mirrors are offered in dimensions of 12.5 mm square, 20.0 mm square, 25.0 mm square, 35 mm square, 50 mm square and in a rectangular 101 x 127 mm size; all with either 0 Degree AOI or 45 Degree AOI.
